Lima Tours exclusive tour operator for the IGLTA International
Symposium
Cusco was chosen as the venue of the IGLTA (International Gay & Lesbian Travel Association) International Symposium which took place in February 2008. IGLTA usually only chooses a country once for its events, however, for the first time in 25 years it has chosen Peru for the second time to host its International Symposium. The singular beauty of our country, as well as the hospitality and warmth of Peruvians caused the IGLTA to choose Peru again for its event which in 2002 was held in Lima and in 2008 in Cusco, Machu Picchu.
Around 55 tourism professionals from North America, Europe and South America, led by our representative in Miami, Ylan Chrem, came to see the marvels of Cusco, Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley, all of them were impressed by their spectacular trip. Furthermore, more than half of the participants went on excursions in the city of Lima and 14 took an unforgettable cruise in the Pacaya-Samiria Reserve on board the Delfín, which was chartered just for them. The whole trip was a complete success; all the participants were amazed at the variety of Peruvian cuisine, its cultural wealth and colorful dances.
Lima Tours, exclusive tour operator for the IGLTA International Symposium, has been proud to serve this segment for more than 30 years. Special thanks go to Lan Airlines, Casa Andina Private Collection, Orient Express, Hoteles Libertador and Inkaterra, for making the trip possible. |

Children from the Willoq community school visit Lima and the
north of Peru
The class graduated in December 2007 from the public school in the community of Willoq, 30 minutes from Ollantaytambo in Cusco, had their first trip away from their own community. The delegation of 27 people, including students, teachers and parents, travelled to Lima and the north of Peru.
As you know, this community is very poor, the women work in the fields and/or at weaving and the men work as "porters" on the Inca Trail during the dry season, to support their families.
Lima Tours, with the support of Hemisur, Star Peru, Trujillo Tours and other local companies and museums, sponsored the school trip to the cities of Lima, Chiclayo and Trujillo for pupils who completed primary education last year. This trip had been a long-standing dream, which we were able to make reality.
The cultural visit included colonial Lima, the Rafael Larco Herrera museum, Larcomar, the Gold Museum, Pachacamac, the fountains in Lima's Parque de la Reserva, the Minimundo Park, the Royal Tombs Museum in Chiclayo. Pacasmayo, an excursion to the city of Trujillo, the Toy Museum, Chan Chan, Huanchaco beach, Huaca de La Luna and Huaca del Dragón.
We are certain that these children and their education represent the country's future and we are therefore proud to have financed this marvelous trip for the 6th grade children from the community of Willoq.
If you want to cooperate with the trip we will offer to the kids of the community of Willoq that will graduate on December 2008, please contact: foundation@limatours.com.pe |
